STATEMENT: Bondi Vows to Uphold the False Claims Act During Senate Confirmation

Washington, DC – During her Senate confirmation hearing on January 15, 2025, Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi was asked by Senator Chuck Grassley about her stance on the False Claims Act and its constitutionality. Senator Grassley, who has long championed the FCA, introduced it as one of the most effective tools for combatting fraud in the U.S., noting it has recovered over $78 billion to date.

Ms. Bondi responded to Grassley’s questions with unequivocal support, stating, “I would defend the constitutionality, of course, of the False Claims Act.” She emphasized the critical role whistleblowers play in the success of the Act, noting their vital contribution to recovering taxpayer funds.

If confirmed, Bondi made clear her commitment to continuing the prosecution and support of FCA cases, underscoring the importance of the Act by stating, “The False Claims Act is so important.”
